Petersfield Town Council comprises 12 elected members and is very proud to be the first Town Council in Hampshire to be awarded the accolade of being a Quality Town Council.

Lesley studied Law at Newcastle Polytechnic followed by articles. Moving to Petersfield in 1977 Lesley has two children who attended Bedales.
Lesley was a committee member of Save the Children for 34 years, and became a Councillor in 2011. Having served on Petersfield Town Council for 8 years and she is now Town Mayor for the second time.
Subsequently being chairman of Grounds for 4 years and one of the main facilitators of bringing the Grounds work in-house. Lesley’s interests include race judging for Cowes Week and general history.

George is married, a retired Naval Officer and has lived in Petersfield for over 30 years. He has served as Mayor of Petersfield 3 times and has been a Town Councillor for 24 years. He is a past member of Winton Players and a past Governor of Petersfield Infant School.

Peter has been based in the town with his family for over 35 years. With a PhD in agriculture he is now retired after a career in community development, mostly spent with his family in remote rural locations in Africa and the Middle East. This experience makes him very much aware of the unsung importance of local government and democratic institutions for the community and for everyone’s quality of life. Enhancing the environment is a key part of this. Peter is a governor at Herne Junior School, a Scout Leader with 1st Petersfield, and a trustee of the Petersfield Society. Often seen on his shopper bike around town, he is also a keen mountain biker. However, Peter’s main hobby is sea kayaking having led expeditions in Scotland, where he is not averse to tackling any of the less trod mountains, and further afield in Greenland.

John has lived in East Hampshire with his family for over 30 years. Prior to retiring he worked for a number of international companies including Cadbury, Schwepps and Unilever in a variety of Sales and Marketing roles. For the last 6 years he has been Chairman of the Petersfield based Ramshill Residents Association working on behalf of residents to resolve problems, this has seen him involved with the SDNPA, HCC, EHDC and the Petersfield Town Council. In addition John has worked closely with local authorities on the recent installation of a new children’s playground. John enjoys playing bridge, enjoying time with his grandchildren and his dog Fudge.

Currently a Material Supervisor for a major electronic manufacture based in Bordon, Steve has worked for the same company for over 30 years.
Steve is married with two step sons and has 6 grandchildren. He has lived in Petersfield since 1971 and has three brothers who also grew up within the town.
Over the last ten years Steve has represented the community by running East Petersfield Community Group, Petersfield Streetwatch and was happy to help deliver the Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan as part of the project group. Steve has formed good relationships with local housing organisations, Councillors at County, District and Town levels while representing the local resident’s interests. During this time Steve has been awarded with a Petersfield Town Council Medal 2012 and East Hampshire District Council Unsung Hero Award 2017 for his services to the Town.
Steve shares his spare time between his family, his love for Portsmouth football Club and improving the community which he is so passionate about.

Jamie is married and has lived in Petersfield since 2006. He graduated as an Electrical Engineer and works as a broadcast technology consultant. Jamie is an active member of Petersfield Round Table. Since 2012 Jamie has played a key role in the Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan project team and steering group. He was elected to the Town Council in May 2015.

John is married with two daughters who attended primary and secondary school locally. He and his family have lived in Petersfield since 1991. He has been CEO of London Pictures Limited since 2002 and before that time he was a sales/marketing director for IBM for 14 years. He has a BA in marketing, an MBA, is a Fellow with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and currently in his final year for a PhD at Royal Holloway University of London. He is also a life member of the British Academy of Film and Television. He enjoys walks in the South Downs National Park, football (lifelong Pompey supporter), visiting the Chawton House Library and Gardens and time with family.

Born in London, Zoe first lived in Hampshire for a year when she was twelve. Life and work took her back to London but she moved out to Haslemere to be near family about twenty years ago. Although she has only lived in Petersfield for four years she has long been a visitor to and fan of the town and the Heath. Fascinated by what makes people tick, she originally studied English Literature and Psychology. She gained a PGCE (in further education) and was a researcher and lecturer in education at Kingston University. She pursued her interest in lifelong learning supporting professional development at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. She recently worked at TPS as a teaching assistant. In her spare time she loves gardening and reading and joined the Society of Authors after writing a joint autobiography with an artist friend. She is married with a stepson and one granddaughter.

John moved to Petersfield in 2001 with a young family and his children have attended the Infant and Junior school and are currently at The Petersfield School (TPS) where John is a Governor. He has previously served as an Engineer in the Royal Navy and was an active member of the Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan. John remains an engineer at heart, and his ‘day job’ is a domestic energy consultant, helping people build and renovate very low energy homes. John was elected to the Town Council in May 2015.

James is married with 4 daughters and 6 grandchildren. He has lived on and off in Petersfield since 1952. He was elected onto Petersfield Town Council in June 2013 and has served on all Committees. He is a retired Army Officer of The Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers.
Until recently he was a Petersfield School Community Governor and Academy Director. He was a member on the committee for steering and implementing the Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan. he is also a Trustee of the John Goodyer (& Bishop Laney) Charity as well as a member of the South Downs National Park Forum and a Lay Member of the Hampshire Primary Care Trust.
He was initially educated at Moreton House School (previously located in The Spain) before going on to Westbury House at West Meon and from there to Lord Wandsworth College. This was followed by a 35 year military career. On retirement from the Army he became a School Bursar at Eastbourne College followed by a two year contract as a Project Leader for Site and Logistics on the Terminal 5 Construction Project. A further Bursar’s post was undertaken at St Catherine’s School at Bramley near Guildford when he then retired.
Since retirement he has held locum Bursar posts at the Ryde School Isle of Wight and also at The Hampshire Collegiate School at Embley Park, Romsey. His hobbies include current affairs, writing and family history.

Phil and his wife have lived in Petersfield for over 34 years. Initially from Glossop in Derbyshire, he came to the area in the 1970s when he joined the Royal Navy and fell in love with the town. After 24 years in the Royal Navy Phil qualified as a Mental Health Nurse. After qualifying he spent 12 years as a Community Mental Health Nurse for older people in Petersfield before moving into clinical research and finally senior management in Clinical Commissioning. He retired in 2018. Phil is a Governor at Langrish Primary School.

Peter has a degree in French from Exeter University and an open degree from the Open University. He has a PGCE and diplomas in Management Studies and Personnel Management. He and his wife have lived in Petersfield for eight years, after twenty-eight in Liphook where they raised their three boys.
Peter has a wide experience working in large companies, primarily in Human Resources, at home and in Germany. He was a school governor for sixteen years in Liphook and four at Herne Junior. He was also a (paid) tutor of school governors for Hampshire.
Peter now teaches weekly classes in French and Spanish for the local U3A, plays tennis and table tennis locally, helps look after his baby granddaughter and is an active member of St Mary Magdalen Church, Sheet.
