Petersfield Town Council comprises of 12 elected members and is very proud to be the first Town Council in Hampshire to be awarded the accolade of being a Quality Town Council.

I have lived in Petersfield for over forty years and my children and grandchildren attended the local state schools. I was an East Hampshire District Councillor for the past twelve years and a Petersfield Town Councillor as well for the first four. I enjoy patchwork and quilting, gardening when it’s warm and watching the birds at the feeders.

George is married, a retired Naval Officer and has lived in Petersfield for over 30 years. He has served as Mayor of Petersfield 3 times and has been a Town Councillor for 24 years. He is a past member of Winton Players and a past Governor of Petersfield Infant School.

Phill is married with two grown up children and a cat. He has recently decided to retire early as the global head of ICT for Christian Aid after 11 years, having previously been the ICT director of Surrey Police, although once upon a time actually trained as a chemist. A long-time member of Winton Players Phill has often been on or behind the stage at the Festival Hall. He is also a trustee of the Sustainability Centre at East Meon.

Mary was born in Petersfield. She has been a Town Councillor for 25 years and served as Mayor twice. She is a retired funeral director with the family business in Petersfield and currently on The committee for The Goodyer Trust. Mary has served as past Chairman for Petersfield In Bloom that celebrated 25 years in 2012. Mary is a keen gardener.

Verlaine is retired and has lived in Petersfield for 2 years. Her hobbies include reading, cake making and decorating. Her children and grandchildren live in Petersfield and she is actively involved with the childcare for her grandchildren.

Jamie is married and has lived in Petersfield since 2006. He graduated as an Electrical Engineer and works as a broadcast technology consultant. Jamie is an active member of Petersfield Round Table. Since 2012 Jamie has played a key role in the Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan project team and steering group. He was elected to the Town Council in May 2015.

Paul and his wife have lived in Petersfield for 15 years and have 2 sons. In the past, Paul founded and ran a small high-tech business based in Liphook. The business was sold in 2011 to a listed US company with Paul leaving in 2013. He’s a keen sailor and bridge player, helps his wife with her three dogs, and now has time to contribute to the town.

Arun has lived in Petersfield with his wife and son for the last 10 years. Raised in Glasgow, Arun relocated to the South Coast in 2003 to join B&Q’s Head Office as Head of Business Services where he worked for almost 10 years. In the last few years, Arun has worked in London holding senior roles for several tech firms and Barclays Bank. He currently heads up the Consumer Business for HIPPO™ who are based in Portsmouth.

John moved to Petersfield in 2001 with a young family and his children have attended the Infant and Junior school and are currently at The Petersfield School (TPS) where John is a Governor. He has previously served as an Engineer in the Royal Navy and was an active member of the Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan. John remains an engineer at heart, and his ‘day job’ is a domestic energy consultant, helping people build and renovate very low energy homes. John was elected to the Town Council in May 2015.

Lesley studied Law at Newcastle Polytechnic followed by articles, and moved to Petersfield in 1977 and has two children who attended Bedales. Lesley was committee member of Save the Children for 34 years, and became a councillor in 2011. Subsequently being chairman of Grounds for 2 years and one of the main facilitators of bringing the Grounds work in-house, and has been a retail manager for over 16 years. James is married with 4 daughters and 6 grandchildren. He has lived on and off in Petersfield since 1952. He was elected onto Petersfield Town Council in June 2013 and has served on all Committees. He is a retired Army Officer of The Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers.
Until recently he was a Petersfield School Community Governor and Academy Director. He was a member on the committee for steering and implementing the Petersfield Neighbourhood Plan. he is also a Trustee of the John Goodyer (& Bishop Laney) Charity as well as a member of the South Downs National Park Forum and a Lay Member of the Hampshire Primary Care Trust.
He was initially educated at Moreton House School (previously located in The Spain) before going on to Westbury House at West Meon and from there to Lord Wandsworth College. This was followed by a 35 year military career. On retirement from the Army he became a School Bursar at Eastbourne College followed by a two year contract as a Project Leader for Site and Logistics on the Terminal 5 Construction Project. A further Bursar’s post was undertaken at St Catherine’s School at Bramley near Guildford when he then retired.
Since retirement he has held locum Bursar posts at the Ryde School Isle of Wight and also at The Hampshire Collegiate School at Embley Park, Romsey. His hobbies include current affairs, writing and family history.

Chris Wilton is married to Dianne, and they have two children and two grandchildren.
After taking a degree in Arabic Language and Islamic History, he joined the Diplomatic Service and spent the majority of his overseas career in the Middle East. On leaving the Diplomatic Service, he ran a marketing consultancy company helping organisations to work effectively in the Middle East, qualified as an Investment Adviser, and held various unpaid positions including Chairman of Raleigh International, the youth development charity.
He and Dianne moved to Petersfield in 2006. Chris is currently Chairman of the Board of the Rosemary Foundation, and Executive Chairman of Petersfield Shop Mobility.
In his spare time, he sings in two choirs, plays the piano, enjoys travel, and grows vegetables.
