Our thanks go to Petersfield Hometown Crew for hosting the best Christmas Light Switch on event to date!
There was a fantastic turn out of residents and visitors to the Square on Friday night.
The Christmas Light Switch On marks the beginning of the festive period for the Town.
While the grown-ups are out Christmas shopping, children can take their map round to find the naughty elves in shops.
Download a map or pop into Hector’s Menswear in Chapel Street to pick up a copy.
Enjoy!

I was so impressed by the high standard of art from the year 9 pupils who chose to enter the competition. It wasn’t an easy task to choose a final two. In point of fact, there was a third entry which came so close that we decided on a winner, runner-up and a ‘highly commended’ without knowing anything about the artists concerned

MAYOR’S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION
This year’s Christmas card design competition turned up a few surprises!
Petersfield Town Mayor Cllr Peter Clist and Mayoress Linda Clist attended The Petersfield School in order to choose this year’s official design for the Town Mayor’s Christmas cards.
All three winners received printed copies of their designs. It was later discovered that this year’s winning design was by Anna Lukash, a Ukrainian student who had recently moved to the area following the devastation in her own country. Anna’s design depicts two children building a snowman in the Square.
This year’s runner-up was Ruby Issitt whose design included several elements such as a Rudolf reindeer standing on William III’s plinth and St Peter’s spire covered with a Santa hat.
Finally, this year’s additional ‘highly commended’ design came courtesy of Vega Coleman who painted geese in silhouette flying across a wintry moon.
A presentation was later made in front of Head Teacher, Mr Marande, when Cllr and Mrs Clist also met the artists and the head of visual arts Mr Leeson.
Almost a hundred of the winning card designs will be winging their way to everyone on the Mayor’s official Christmas list
