Welcome to Petersfield in Bloom 2023

Petersfield Town Council invites Petersfield residents and Businesses to brighten up the town with their displays.

Welcome to our Gardening Community!

Petersfield Town Council is excited to announce the launch of Petersfield in Bloom 2023, a competition that encourages the community to come together and grow together. This year’s competition is open to all Petersfield residents and businesses, with the aim of making our town even more beautiful and vibrant.

The gardening community will be coming together to support this year’s competition, and we are proud to announce that our new Petersfield in Bloom Patron Alan Titchmarsh MBE DL is fully supportive of this initiative. According to Titchmarsh, “It’s a proven fact that being surrounded by plants and flowers is good for our health. It also improves our outlook no end. Petersfield in Bloom is a brilliant example of just how much our surroundings can be enhanced by growing things, and I congratulate the town on its understanding of the value of such a cheerful initiative.”

We couldn’t agree more, and we are thrilled to see the Petersfield community come together to create beautiful outdoor spaces that not only enhance our town’s aesthetics but also promote health and wellbeing.

To find out more about Petersfield in Bloom 2023 and the local florists and gardening clubs supporting this year’s competition, be sure to drop by the Alitex greenhouse pop-up at the Petersfield Spring Festival on 28-29 May in Petersfield Square. There, you’ll find all the information you need to participate in this exciting initiative.

Petersfield Town Council recognises how good for wellbeing gardening can be and how important it is to be mindful of nature. We believe that Petersfield in Bloom is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and create something truly beautiful, and we encourage everyone to get involved.

Let’s make Petersfield even more beautiful and vibrant with Petersfield in Bloom 2023!

Petersfield Town Council are grateful for the sponsorship of local glasshouse manufacturer Alitex for the supply of their greenhouse.

Initially established in 1952 in Alton, Alitex are now based in South Harting – Torberry Farm in the South Downs. Torberry has become both a stunning show site and great space for their growing factory, enabling them to manufacture everything here in the UK.

Petersfield in Bloom is back for another year and we’re excited to announce that this year’s competition is supported by Shine Radio’s gardening podcast ‘Growing Together.’

We invite all local residents and businesses of Petersfield to enter the 2023 Petersfield in Bloom #PIB2023 to showcase their gardening skills.

The competition features several categories, including the Environmental Award, Unusual Container and this year a special coronation-themed category for the King’s coronation year.  This year will see the addition of a ‘Grow your
Own’ category.  We are delighted to have appointed judges from local horticultural clubs and societies who will assess each entry based on a number of judging criteria including overall visual impact,
creative use of space and environmental impact.

Entry forms are now available from Petersfield Town Council or you can enter online.

The closing date for entries is Friday 30 June with judging taking place on Thursday 13 July.  The prize-giving evening will be held on Thursday 5 October, and all participants are invited to attend.

This is an excellent opportunity for Petersfield’s residents and businesses to come together and celebrate the beauty of our town.

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting, we welcome entries from everyone.  This is no better time to showcase your gardening skills and contribute to Petersfield’s beauty.

We look forward to seeing your entries and wish everyone the best of luck!
