REFURBISHMENT

Work began on 31st March to expand the Council Chamber (pictured below) knocking through the wall where the clock was situated into the two rooms behind.  This required some heavy duty steels to support the upper floor and all steels have now been installed, and all walls demolished.  As part of the larger refurbishment plans, the floor has been dug out to a deeper depth so that it can be back filled to the requirements of the Zero-Carbon plans for Zone 9 should the full plans go ahead.

The expanded chamber will provide the Town Council additional space for full meetings, along with a public gallery and press station, as well as provide a function room for use by many of the towns organisations and charities as well as a suitable location for business meetings and public hires.  Features will include localised facilities to make hot drinks, as well as provision to upgrade the AV systems.

The next phase of the project will be to rebuild the floor and start the 1st fix for electrics and other services.

The project is currently running on time and within budget and is due to be completed by 11th July 2025.
