P1050696 copyThe winners of Petersfield in Bloom 2017, together with Pippa Greenwood and the Town Mayor, at the Prize Giving Evening held on 5th October 2017

Once again, Petersfield residents and businesses have work hard to make it a beautiful place to live and visit in the warmer months.  Petersfield Town Council would like to thank all who have made the effort, and particularly those who entered the Petersfield in Bloom Competition. As is often said, it is not about winning, but about participating, and we are grateful to all those who once again made Petersfield In Bloom a successful event.

The Petersfield In Bloom judging took place on Thursday 13th July on a sunny and warm day, with four groups covering the 12 categories for this year’s entrants.

This year the 8 judges came from the Horticultural Societies of Empshott & Hawkley (4) and Liss (4).  At a reception in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall, the Town Mayor Cllr Jamie Matthews and his Consort Melissa Matthews, along with town councillors and office staff, welcomed the judges and introduced them to the 50 entries received.  Once all the information had been shared, pictures were taken before the judges ventured out with town councillors in the four groups to view, take pictures, assess, and award points to each display.

On returning, the judges rechecked their papers in the Council Chamber and awarded Highly Commended, Bronze, Silver and Gold for each category.  The judges were once again pleased with the high standards maintained in and around the town.

The prize giving evening was held on Thursday 5th October 2017 in the Rose Room, when Petersfield in Bloom’s President, gardening expert Pippa Greenwood, assisted the Town Mayor, Jamie Matthews, in presenting the certificates and trophies.  Please see below pictures from the evening.
