Improvement work at Bell Hill Children's Playground

After more than a decade of fun and wear and tear, several items of play equipment at the popular Bell Hill Children’s Playground, which had reached the end of their lives, were recently renewed.

The work included installing a Junior Climbing Unit and Junior Adventure ‘Trim’ Trail items. Following feedback, a new Toddler Swing inside the younger children’s area, along with a small slide also suitable for really young children were added. Replacement parts for the existing and popular Titan Swing were included in the project. Renewal of safety surfacing also took place and a replacement fence was also installed on the perimeter of the site.

Two local companies were used to carry out the work. The build and installation of the play equipment was by Playsafe Playgrounds Ltd of Elsted Marsh and the fencing by MJS Fencing Ltd.

Ward Councillor, Jamie Matthews said “Although it taken a long time to get the work done, I’m really pleased with quality of the new equipment and the extra provision for the youngest children. The additional work to safety surfacing and fencing means the whole site has been freshened up and will fit for purpose for at least another ten years.”

The Town Council funded the majority of £40k project, which included £10,000 from the Community Infrastructure Levy received from the recent development of the nearby Aldi supermarket.
