Petersfield Town Council are involved in a long term project to transform the Penns Playing Fields and Penns Farm area into a Sports Hub. The area is already home to Petersfield Rugby Club and Taro Leisure Centre, and also used by Petersfield Town Junior Football Club. An area known as Penns Field B may also be incorporated to provide a further area to the Sports Hub. A further area that lays behind the EHDC offices and also the EHDC vacated offices may also become part of the larger Sports Hub if an agreement is reached. Currently this area is used by Petersfield Cricket Club, and Churchers College and discussions are taking place to ensure that the existing provisions and uses of this area are taken into consideration in the overall outcome of this project.
Petersfield Town Council have been engaged with ecology studies of wildlife and a survey of trees has been carried out to work out the impact and mitigation measures required to create the Penns Field B extended sports hub area.
