We continue to review the use of our open spaces in line with guidance from the Government

Look out for our detailed yellow signs.

We would also ask that you adhere to the Governments guidance on accessing green space safety.

Following the Government announcement that children’s play areas could re-open on Saturday 4th July there has been a set of Regulations issued that the Council has had to give due consideration to before being able to safely open any of the play areas under its control.  These regulations are quite onerous and there has been significant changes made almost daily this week which has made it impossible for the Council to prepare and open all of the play areas in the town.

The focus has been on opening the more popular sites at The Heath and also the Skatepark at Love Lane which has been achieved.  The remaining play sites at Woods Meadow, Borough Road, Paddock Way, Penns Farm, Bell Hill and Ramshill are expected to be opened during the next week.  Some of the play areas contain enclosed sections which, in accordance with the regulations, the Council has to determine the maximum number of people who can be inside the fenced areas at any given time.  These are:

The Heath – 14

Woods Meadow – 9

Bell Hill Toddler Area – 15

Paddock Way – 20

Ramshill – 50

Signage will be erected next week at each site confirming this information and the numbers will be kept under review at each site to determine whether these capacities are appropriate.

In addition it is hoped that the public toilets at The Heath will be re-opened shortly.  Advanced discussions are ongoing with our Health & Safety consultants and the EHDC Environmental Health team.  Once these are completed it is expected that the toilets can be re-opened.

In the meantime thank you for your forebearance and patience.

Please continue to respect other residents by maintaining social distancing.

Please help us to protect our open spaces by leaving no trace of your visit.

Thank you!
